Babylon, Margot Robbie’s controversial period movie with Brad Pitt, will soon have a new streaming home. The film will be available to stream on Hulu on March 8.

Babylon stars an ensemble cast, with Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo and Li Jun Li joining Robbie and Pitt. The story explores the decadent and chaotic world of early Hollywood, especially during the transition from silent film to talkies in the 1920s. Released in 2022, Babylon was a box-office bomb that received polarizing reviews from critics. The film, with an estimated production budget of around $80 million, only grossed $65 million worldwide and was estimated to have lost Paramount $87 million.

The film’s exploration of early Hollywood drew controversy for its scenes of excess, including orgies, drug use and other forms of debauchery, which some audiences found to be off-putting and excessive. Critical response echoed these statements, with reviews polarized about whether these scenes were over-indulgent or ambitious. Robbie and Pitt’s performances in particular were praised, despite some critics finding that the way the film was executed made it “difficult” to watch.
